GSM Networks will closed in the next few years
Mobile operators from all around the world are preparing to
close their GSM networks. M1, SingTel and StarHub mobile operator from
Singapore are the latest addition. They announced that they will close their
GSM networks in April 2017.
Australian telecom operator Telstra and the USA
Telecommunications company AT&T also have such announcements.
And they don’t have any perceive related to closure of this
network. However, only those mobile will be disabled which run on GSM network. Those
mobile which works on GSM network are used in very low concentrations in Developed and prosperous countries.
The use of
GSM network mobile in developing and poor countries are still quite high. Last
year when Australian mobile operator Telstra announced the date of outage of
the GSM network. On that time GSM network mobile working on their network was
only one percent.
But in developing countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka,
and Bangladesh use of GSM network are still high. The Pakistani telecom
operators has not announced to close their GSM network .But these networks will
have to close the GSM network as follow other world.
European telecom operators are quite
cautious in this matter. Norway telecom operator Telenor, which are licensed
telecom operator in Pakistan, has announced to run GSM network for five to ten
years. The French telecom operator Orange has currently excluded as possible
the closure of the GSM networks.
There are different reasons such as
technical as well as financial problems to close the GSM network. Specific
frequency spectrum using for GSM network will be used for 3G, 4G Networks.
As a
result of this process 3G and 4G networks will be able to provide service to
more customers. More customer and one network closer would be benefit for
telecom network companies.
