Excel Column And Rows Limits

How Many Column and Rows You Can Make in Microsoft Excel

Excel Column and Rows

How many column and rows can be an Excel sheet it depends on which version of Microsoft Office / excel you are using. Those who are using old Microsoft office / excel version from decade.

They may come to worry about it. Because in excel 95 version maximum number of rows are 16348 and 256 column can be made. The number of rows was increase to (65536) in excel version 97.

But the number of columns is still 256. The limits remain in the excel version 2003.

Then the limits of rows in columns and rows were increase in Microsoft office 2007. The maximum number of rows can be more then million (1048676) and the maximum column number is 16384 from excel 2007 to excel 2013.

The user of excel new version usually do not face the rows and columns limitations. It does happen occasionally that any excel sheet need more than 16000 columns or more than one million rows.  For such a huge data excel may not be appropriate software.

Excel spreadsheet or workbook has limited worksheet. But the limit is directly connected to available computer memory.  If memory could not open four or five worksheets than the range of 256 worksheets may be an effective.

There is no limit on the number of excel worksheets in excel version 2013. But it depends on RAM in the computer.

The latest addition is excel 2016. Excel 2016 file format isn’t changed. So that the same number of rows (1048676) and column (65536) still applies.
